Qi is your personal life force that courses through your body. It should flow freely, without snags, to maintain optimal health. It is closely related to your physical, emotional and spiritual stability.

Shiatsu aims to restore balance to your Qi and promote health and well-being.

In Shiatsu, or acupressure as it is also called, the therapist applies pressure to various points on the body with the intention of increasing the flow of the qi, encouraging the removal of any blockages that may have developed due to physical or emotional stress.

Shiatsu is non-invasive, as the client remains fully clothed (loose, comfortable clothing is ideal) and, as the body is covered with a light cloth, skin-on-skin contact is minimal.

A Shiatsu treatment leaves you feeling relaxed, with a keen sense of well-being. Shiastu also improves health generally by relieving stress, calming the nervous system and stimulating the circulatory and immune systems. It is particularly effective for stress-related tension and illnesses, insomnia, back pain, headaches, digestive ailments and for recovery from injuries. Treatments before and after intense physical activity greatly improve performance and reduce recovery time.

  • The 30 minute upper-body treatment (head, neck and shoulders), for people on the move, who have limited time, but who want to manage the detrimental effects of stress.
  • The 60 minute full-body treatment that covers all the main pressure points and promotes overall well-being, reduces stress and body aches, and restores balance to the energy pathways where the qi flows.
