Chi Kung (or Qigong, pronounced "Chee Gong")
Chi means "breath" in Mandarin, refering to the vital energy that keeps us alive by breathing. Chi Kung, translates into english as 'working with chi' or 'breath work'.

Chi Kung can thus be understood as the art of managing breathing to achieve and sustain good health. This ancient health practice has existed in various forms for over four thousand years and is often taught in combination with Tai Chi as it is based on the same understanding.

Chi Kung is however a complete system on its own and consists of a series of dynamic stretching and breathing exercises which is combined with meditation. As a result it is often referred to as Chinese Yoga, however Chi Kung is much safer and easier to practice than Yoga.
The health and spiritual benefits from these seemingly easy exercises are huge when practiced on a daily basis. Whether you are a therapist, pensioner, martial artist or a sport enthusiast everyone can benefit from these exercises. In China thousands of people are practising these exercises everyday and has even been incorporated into hospitals as part of patient's recovery strategy.
