BA Honours (Psychology)
MTh (Clinical Pastoral Therapy) US
Clinical Pastoral Therapist
I deal with problems therapeutically using insight and skills from Theology & Psychology.
My training has been a combination of Psychology and Theology.
I have honours in Psychology, and a Master's degree that included subjects both from the faculties of Psychology and Theology at Stellenbosch University. My clinical training was done at Stikland and Tygerberg Hospitals.
Through therapy I can work inter alia with issues such as depression, anxiety, loss and bereavement, crisis management, trauma counseling, couple and marriage therapy, eating disorders, adolescent problems, problems of the elderly, and HIV pre and post-test counseling.
In addition to my practice in Pinelands I lecture a third year course in The Psychology of Religion at the Huguenot College in Wellington and in the Master's programme at Stellenbosch University. I also provide group therapy for the Stellenbosch MTh students as well as supervision for a group of home-based care counselors working with HIV and AIDS patients in the Gugulethu area.
